. ., CITY OF CENTERVILLE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION TUESDAY, AUGUST 5,1997 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting and a public hearing on August S, 1997 at 1880 Main Street, City Hall. PRESENT: Kathy Welk Tina Vermeulen Linda Broussard-Vickers ABSENT: Al LaMotte STAFF/CONSULTANTS: City Administrator Jim March City Clerk Ry-Chel Gaustad Liaison Mary Jo Helmbrcht OPENING CONSIDERATION TO GRANT VARIANCE PUBLIC HEARING CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:00 p.m. Alternate Chairperson Kathy Welk opened the public hearing to discuss a variance request for a S' encroachment on the drainage and utility easement located at Industrial Park, Lot 2, Block 2. Mr. Rich Tuomi (Odyssey Lures) requested variance approval, because under the current easement restrictions the parking regulations for the proposed building will not be met. Mr. March reported Kate Drewry (Rice Creek Watershed District) commented it is a common procedure among communities to grant a variance to encroach upon an easement. However, Ms. Drewry noted the direction ofthe drainage should not flow into the parking lot. Ms. Brossard-Vickers questioned the direction of flow from the drainage. Mr. Tuomi replied the drainage will flow southwest of the property. Ms. Welk asked if there were further comments from the audience. There were no further comments. Ms. Welk also asked Staff if the City received written comments on the variance. Ms. Gaustad reported the City has not received any written comments on the proposed variance. MOTION by Ms. Brossard-Vickers to close the August 5, 1997 public hearing at 7:08 p.m. Motion seconded by Ms. Vermeulen. Motion carried unanimously.
