Planning and Zoning Commission
June 1, 2004
Meeting Minutes
Chair Hanson asked if there are any specific EPA issues with runoff.
Mr. Shudy indicated they would need to have an EPA storm water permit and then
explained that they have a pond on site and a water reclaimer that reuses a lot of water.
Mr. Palzer indicated that he has reviewed the plan and he thinks having everything inside
the building is good for dust control. He then commented that Mr. Shudy runs a clean
operation and the use of the reclaimer for saving water helps control runoff issues.
Council Liaison Broussard Vickers asked if the driveways would be removed by the
property owner across the street.
Mr. Shudy indicated that he would be discussing the matter with the adjoining property
owner and hopes to get an easement from him.
Commissioner Wilharber asked where sewer and water comes in.
st
Mr. Shudy indicated that it comes down 21 from Lino.
2. Letter of Interest Mr. Jeff Hanzal
Motion by Commissioner Wilharber, seconded by Commissioner Lakso to
recommend that Mr. Hanzal be appointed to the Planning Commission. All in
favor. Motion carried unanimously.
VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS
Chair Hanson told the Commission that the townhome project will not be coming to the
City because they did not get the TIF financing. He then said that the developer has
indicated a desire to develop in Hugo. He further indicated that it looks like the office
townhomes may not be built either.
1. Ordinance #4 – New Format
Chair Hanson suggested clarifying the section on height of buildings and where the
measurement is taken from.
The Commission asked Mr. Palzer to conduct some research and make a
recommendation as to how to measure height.
Council Liaison Broussard Vickers asked whether the moratorium would need to be
extended so that the Commission would have more time to review the proposed changes
to Ordinance #4.
