i APPROVED PARKS AND RECREATION SPECIAL MEETING FOR WHEELS PARK MINUTES July 16, 2001 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Parks and Recreation Committee of the City of Centerville held a Special Meeting to discuss the purchase of wheels park equipment and further plans for the Grand Opening of the Wheels Park on July 16, 2001, at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. Chairperson Doug Porter called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present: Chairperson Doug Porter Brian Walter Karla DeVine Tom Lee Kathy Peil Tedd Peterson � Absent: Wayne LeBlanc Staff: Jill Lien I APPEARANCES Mr. Dean Anderson (6961 Centerville Road) and Mr. Ben Henrich (6953 Centerville Road) appeared before the Parks and Recreation Committee to e�ress their concerns related to the temporary road located in Laurie LaMotte Park. Specifically, the contractors working on the concrete in the ice rink are driving all of their vehicles on the road, not just the lazge ones. Every time they drive on the road, it creates tremendous amounts of dirt, which in turn completely dusts out their homes. Mr. Anderson commented that he doesn't know if he should leave his windows open when he leaves for work every day, or not. If he leaves them open, when he comes home, everything in his house has been completely covered by dust. It is too hot to keep the windows closed every day, and he doesn't feel he should have to. Additionally, the gates are left open all night. He questioned if the gates are required to be closed, and why they were opened to begin with. NIr. Peterson explained that the gates are being opened temporarily for the construction of the Wheels Park (concrete) and the electrical contractors. Once this is complete, the gates will be closed permanently, but in the mean time, the contractors are supposed to be closing the gates every night.
