The dedication of our firefighters <br /> and police officers is without question -- superb. <br /> Centerville has a fuli contingent of dedicated, trained firefighters with modern equipment <br /> #o provide prevention, protection, and medical assis#ance. By combining with l.ino <br /> Lakes and Circie Pines in the Centenniai Fire Department, ci#izens receive quality, cost <br /> efficient fire services. <br /> The Centennial Lakes Police Department combines the cities of CenterviNe, Circle <br /> Pines and Lexington intp a 16-member force. The Department is dedicated to <br /> community policing, preventior� and safety through education, citizen involvement in <br /> neighborhood watch programs, and fhorough investigation, apprehension, and <br /> prosecution of criminals. <br /> Public safety will always be the first priority for any community. Centervifle, in <br /> cooperation with our partner cities must continue #o invest in our firefighters and officers <br /> to maintain training proficiency, adopt new technologies, and quickly respond to ' <br /> emer�encies. <br /> Accomplished to Date: <br /> • The need for a reliab(e tornado siren was identified in the goals process and will <br /> be purchased and installed by sumrrser 200�. <br /> • The County has pertormed a safety study concerning the stop sign at Centerville <br /> Road and Main Street. Counci! is waiting for recommendations. <br /> • Although not identified in the goal process, an emergency snow removal policy <br /> was adopted by Council in 2001. <br /> • Council members discussed 135� Highway 14 traffic safety with Senator Krentz. <br /> On the Hor�zon: <br /> • A new radiQ system for countywide dispatching is needed now <br /> • Additional police officers as �he community continues to grow <br /> o Evaluate current police services and equipment <br /> 7 <br />
