May 9, 2001 Council Meeting Minutes <br /> Council Mem�er Capra requested the following change: Page 7, indicate that Cauncil <br /> Member Capra requested an evaluation of the ponds to be completed by NIr. Peterson <br /> prior to setting any type of maintenance schedule. <br /> M�tion bv Council Member Nelson, seconded bv Council Member Capra to <br /> approve the Anril 25, 2001 Couacil Minutes as amended. All in favor. Motion <br /> carried unanimouslv. <br /> VI. PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS <br /> None. <br /> VII. iJNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> 1. City Goals <br /> Mayor Swedberg stated that he agreed with Mr. March regarding the removai of the <br /> dollar amounts previously included in the document. Mayor Swedberg stated he would <br /> like Cduncil to adopt the goaLs this eveni.ng. <br /> Council Member ` Ne�son questioned whether to forward the goals to the other I � <br /> committees/comrnission for their review. <br /> Ma.yor Swedberg stated tha.t residents had been given the opportunity to e�cpress their ' <br /> feelings and no ma.jor modifications were requested. Mayor Swedberg thanked the Quad <br /> Press for publishing an article on the goals. ' <br /> Council Member Capra stated that several of the goals had already been enacted and she <br /> felt that only the community garden item was questionable. <br /> i <br /> Motion by Council Member Nelson, seconded by Council Member Capra to ado�t <br /> the goals document as drafted bv Mavor Swedberg and forward same to <br /> committees/commission for their review. <br /> Council Member Travis questioned whether, subsequent to obtaining public input, any <br /> modifications were made to the document. <br /> � Mayor Swedberg concurred. Mayor Swedberg stated that residents reacted to the <br /> presented document and did not offer any significant modifications. <br /> Council Member Broussard Vickers stated she did not find anyone who said the entire <br /> document was wonderful and no one said the idea was terrible. She indicated she had <br /> gotten the impression tha.t residents were fine with the goals provided taxes were not <br /> ra.ised and current City services were not sac�ificed in order to pay for the goals. Council <br /> Member Broussard Vickers stated that she would prefer to see the origix�al draft rewritten <br /> slightly priar to acting on same. <br /> Page 3 of 9 <br />
