The "Originals" will play for four (4) hours; provide lighting, sound system, etc. Mr. Sweeney sta.ted that there would be a possibility that the hockey may be paved prior to the festival. Discussion ensued in regards to the placement of tYie tent for the band and dance. Committee Member Peil requested the name of the rental firm who provided the stage and tents from the previous year so that they could be contacted. Mr. DeVine instructed members not to rent any equipment until procedures are in place for approval and obtaining all equipment at the same time, allowing negotiating power. Discussion ensued in regards to funding. Motion bv Committee Member Thill, and seconded bv Committee Chair DeVine to accept the contract submitted b Jy immy Allen Event Management, promoter for the"Originals," to perform at the Fete des Lacs City Celebration the first week of August, 2001 Chair DeVine added a friendly amendment to add Committee Member Peil approach Mr. March with the contract tomorrow to ascertain the appropriate ste� needed to forward same to Jimmy Allen Event Management to secure the I "Originals". All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. 3. Carnival Chair DeVine reported that the Cornmittee had been in contact with Funland Carnival I Promoters and they have stated that they were unable to participate in the event. Chair DeVine stated that he felt that Funland could book larger cities than Centerville. Chair DeVine stated that numerous telephone calls and e-mails have been distributed in an attempt to secure another firm to provide the carnival events. Chair DeVine stated that I he is open to suggestions. Chair DeVine stated that concessions and smaller events can be obtained without the larger equipment, i.e. ferris wheel, etc. Chair DeVine felt I strongly that a Carnival could be obtained for the event. Discussion ensued in regards to fees charged, volunteer participation, the appearance of a large event and the draw of people. 4. Teen Dance & Fund Raisin� Due to the absence of Committee Member Travis, no report was given. Chair DeVine reported that Committee Member Travis was scheduling a meeting with Mr. Rich DeFoe, Waterworks Beach, in regards to these arrangements. Chair DeVine stated that the ultimate would be if Mr. DeFoe agreed to hold Waterworks' "Teen Night — 16 and older to party" at the festival. It was felt that Mr. DeFoe would not find this profitable.
