Forwarded to Council Members
Via e-mail on 2/1/O1 at 2:46 pm.
Mr. Bruce Luikart, 7130 Peterson Trail, questioned the type of lighting in the rear of the
building. Mr. Drilling stated that the lighting would be similar to the current strip ma1L
Mr. Luikart questioned whether the rear, exterior of the building would be brick. Mr.
Drilling concurred.
Mayor Swedberg questioned Mr. Luikart as to his thoughts of the proposed strip mall.
Mr. Luikart stated that he could live with the building.
Mr. Jerry Engler, 7127 Shad Avenue, requested that the berm run along the north/south
jog of the property. Mr. Drilling stated that he had not planned to have a berm in that
location. Mr. Drilling also stated that there would be a six (6) foot fence installed on the
top of the berm and trees would run north to south on the property line on the Drilling
side of the fence.
Mr. Peterson explained he was unable to comment on whether a berm along the
north/south jog would interfere with drainage, as he did not have a map with contours.
Mr. Engler asked Mr. Drilling if his trees and stakes would be replaced that were
removed by construction workers when the site was cleared. Mr. Drilling agreed to
restore Mr. Engler's property to its original state.
Mayor Swedberg requested that Mr. Hoeft investigate whether berming the north/south
jog would interfere with drainage.
Mr. Engler stated he desired the berm to be moved out to the west beyond where the
proposed fence is located.
Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that Mr. Engler's proposal was unacceptable
due to the separation of the berm and the fence. Council Member Broussard Vickers felt
that this would not be attractive.
Mr. March suggested waiting for Mr. Peterson's report on drainage prior to determining
whether a berm in the location would work.
Mr. Engler questioned the height of the trees that Mr. Drilling intended on installing. Mr.
March indicated Mr. Drilling needed to submit a detailed landscaping plan, which would
provide that information. Mr. Drilling indicated he would either leave the larger trees
currently located on the site or use five (5) or six (6) foot landscape evergreens dependent
upon County suggestion.
Mr. Engler asked that construction traffic not enter the lot from Shad Avenue.
Motion by Council Member Nelson, seconded bX Council Member Broussard
Vickers to close the public hearing. All in favor. Motion carried unanimousl,y,
Mayor Swedberg closed the public hearing at 6:50 p.m.
