Approve purchases of supplies and <br /> materials, monitor budgets, track accounts and personnel hours within th.e <br /> perimeters of a$545,500 budget. Research, prepare and present reports, and <br /> budgets to the Director, Park Commission and Common Council. Develop standards <br /> for maintenance of parks, riverwallts, and parkways. Monitor and approve payment <br /> of a yearly maintenance contract for the historic downtown business district. Work <br /> with the city attorney and engineexing staff to develop policies, procedures and <br /> ordinances as pertains to parks, urban forestry and weed control. Acting as Weed <br /> Commissioner, enforcing and monitoring weed ordinances within the city. Work <br /> with the state DNR on various projects, inclucling justification of and application for <br /> ' appropriate permits and such other approvals as needed to complete projects. <br /> Supervise the writing of the cit�r's Urban Forestry Strategic and Master Plan and <br /> implementing different phases of the grant. Monitor SBA grants and complete <br /> proper forms for reimbursements from the state. Work with and make presentations <br /> at community events, civic organizations, and volunteer organizations to facilitate <br /> the needs of the city and the department. Attend meetings to represent the <br /> department as required. <br /> Coordinate with other city departments for the use of equipment and manpower to <br /> facilitate projects. Approve the use of city equipment by other municipalities and <br /> governmental agencies. Assess needs, develop specifications and prepare bids for <br /> departmental equipment. Developed an operational program with a consultant for a <br /> semi-natural pond used for swimming and ice skating. <br /> Supervise, direct and inspect � seven man full-time park & forestry crew and ten <br /> seasonal laUorers.
