NEW BUSINESS Generator Purchase Mr. 1_�Iarch reported that Fire Chief Ben�?tt r?quested authorization to purcha�e a generator for Centzrv�ille City Ha11. The generator would be sized to operate both City Hall and the Fire Station in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. The generator may cost in the area of $30,000. Furthermore, funds are available in the charitabl� gambling account to help pay for this piece of equipment. The generator would be permanently mounted behind City Hall. However, the generator would not be able to be used to operate the City wells. Moreover, the City Hall/Fire Station would be used to operate an emergency operations center, if the piece of equipment is purchased. The Council discussed the specifications of the generator and Mr. Palzer suggested the Council consider the purchase of a larger generator in order to operate the above stated City wells. After further discussion, the Council elected to create new specifications in order to purchase a larger generator to run the Fire Department, City Hall, lift stations and to explore cost of a mobile generator. Motion by Councilmember Sweenev, seconded by Councilmember Nelson to table this item until � more information is provided. Motion carried unanimouslv• , Lion Club Citv Celebration Re�uest: Noise Permit/3.2 Beer Permit Mr. March explained the Centerville Lions's Club officially requested a noise permit and 3.2 beer permit to be used in conjunction with the Fete des Lacs City Celebration. The Lion's will provide the City with a copy of their liquor liability insurance. The Lion's will be working with the Circle Pines/Lexington Police Department to coordinate the security for this annual event. The Lion's will also be working with the Elementary School to coordinate the use of their facilities. Finally, the Lion's would also like to block off Progress Road as done in years past. Motion by Councilmember Travis, seconded by Sweene�pprove the noise permit, 3.2 beer �� permit, waive fees, conditioned upon receipt of a certificate of insurance and evening events endir� similar to last year. Motion carried unanimously. Overo��eight Permit - 1580 Sorel Street Ma Wilharber said the City has received a request for an overweight permit for 1580 Sorel Street. The Council inquired about the tonna�e amount and the need to establish policy indicating all c�verwei��ht permits must go before Council for approval. Motion by Councilmember Sweeney, seconded by Councilmember Nelson to approve the overweight permit as requested, but only if access is from Main Street to Goiffon and to the smallest section of Sorel Street. Further discussion: Mayor Wilharber affirmed overweight permit procedures: * Collect a$5000 escrow check - which will be drawn from in the event of road damage.
