mid fall.
Mr. Navin questioned the needs, layout and design, adding that as long as the City is within the
general concept of the grant application, everything should be ok. He urged the importance of
coming up with specifics - the exact number of swings, slides, etc. Mr. Navin questioned if there
will be a need for another public hearing, and what does the council want to see?
Mr. March felt there wouldn't be a need for another public hearing.
Mr. Sweeney offered the council wants to see a firm layout of the play structure and adult area.
They also will want to see the costs finalized.
Ms. Dorn (1836 Revoir St.) mentioned that the CNN has added a couple of bench swings for the
adults to use.
Mr. Navin felt that the Park and Recreation Committee needs to be good stewards of the money,
and asked the rest of the committee members where they want to go from here, specifically if
anyone is ready to recommend anything to the council. '
No one was ready for recommendation to council. Mr. Brown suggested to keep going forward.
Mr. Porter requested the CNN get the specifics before the next Park and Recreation meeting, so
Park and Recreation can make a recommendation to the council after the next meeting. '
Mr. March suggested starting with the specifications the CNN has submitted. The vendors can
add or subtract or make suggestions. Mr. March felt vendors will be very interested once they
know we have already been awarded the grant. He also added there will have to be some give
and take. '
Mr. Navin suggested that since we basically have a 30 day window to work with that maybe
someone from the Park and Recreation Committee would be interested in working with a
representative of the CNN to get quotes and set up the layout of the equipment at the park Mr.
Navin asked Mr. Porter if he would be willing to meet with the representatives to get these issues
worked out. N1r. Porter agreed to meet with a repreae►ltative of the CNI'vr. iVlr. Larson also
offered to meet with the representative to help out. Mr. Navin felt the City should advertise on
the marque sign in front of City Hall so that all residents are informed and have an opportunity to
partake in the layout and development of the Acorn Creek Park Ms. Fairbrother will be the
representative of the CNN and will contact three to five vendors to set up a date and time for a
meeting and will contact Mr. Porter and Mr. Larson with the specific date and time.
Mr. Brown wasn't pleased with the placement of the adult area. He didn't feel the play
equipment should be placed in the middle of the park He questioned several times where the
shelter will be placed. Several times he was told there are no and have never been plans for a
shelter in the grant application that was submitted. He felt the play structure should be moved
back a little further, and that it is too close to the homes. Some day when the City continues to
3
