HUfO, Mlnnesofa <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />Whereas property taxes tend to be highest. and most burdensome in cities, <br />and in the absence of some action by the state legislature municipal <br />property taxes in the city of Centervillewill increase in 1976 and <br />1977, and <br /> <br />Whereas.the city council of Centerville strongly favors the reduction <br />of municipal property taxes, and the most feasible way of accomplishing <br />this without drastically reducing essential municipal services is <br />through the distribution of railroad and telephone gross earnings taxes <br />to cities as proposed by Governor Anderson, and <br /> <br />Whereas local 'Units of government receive no property taxes or other <br />taxes from railroad or tele~hone property and the City of Centerville <br />will receive approximately '1,354.61 under the proposed distribution <br />of telephone and railroad'gross earnings in 1970, and <br /> <br />Whereas, this method of tax reduction is 'preferable to other alternatives <br />being considered. <br /> <br />"'----" <br /> <br />NOW i'HEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF CENTERVILLE <br />respectfully urges the Minnesota State Legislature to distribute all <br />of the telephone and railroad gross earnings taxes, amounting to <br />$46 million in 1976 and $49 million in 1977. to local units of <br />government as proposed by Governor Anderson. and <br /> <br />BE IT' FUR'lHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted <br />to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, Members of the State <br />Legislature and the League of Minnesota Municipalities. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />'! <br /> <br /> <br />, <br />.J <br />,. <br /> <br />.. <br />, <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />..d <br /> <br />.~ <br />1 <br />'I <br />I <br />j <br /> <br />'-' <br /> <br />r~" <br /> <br />~. .....~.~., <br />I.'~> - .,'?"'," <br />!:............ ... <br />r-,_ ',' .;.... <br />~..,'i . , <br />;.;,~'~;. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br /> <br />.,'---~ <br />
