the lake is home to "Minne the Lake Creature" (http: / /www.lakecreature.com /)
About the existing celebration
The annual Independence Day celebration in Powderhorn Park has long been known as the
"other" Minneapolis Fourth of July. Compared to riverfront fireworks displays, this celebration
is smaller, more relaxed, and much more family- oriented. During the afternoon, 3000 - 5000
people gather in the park for picnicking and live music. By the time fireworks begin at dusk,
8000 - 10,000 people attend the event. The event is organized by the Powderhorn Park
Neighborhood Association http: / /ppna.org/
Below is the existing schedule for the day:
3pm - food vendors open
3pm - music begins
7pm - large crowds begin to gather
9pm - fire dancers
9:30 - Fireworks
