For the purpose of submitting a request to Dead Broke Saddle Club Mr. Palzer suggested doubling the quote from Goetz Landscaping, which was $9,476. In addition add $6,000 for drain tile and $1,800 each for equipment. The amount of the parking lot is yet to be determined. Ms. Stephan had prepared a letter to Dead Broke Saddle Club which the committee reviewed and made revisions to. Flagpole at Corner Stone Park Mr. Mark Statz, City Engineer, requested the committee take a look at designs he provided regarding placement and lighting of the flagpole in Cornerstone Park. Chairperson Branch also requested a discussion of a request from a resident, Mr. Bob Hathaway, to rename the park Military Veterans Memorial Park. The committee was not in favor of renaming the park, but will consider dedicating the flagpole to Veterans, Police & Fire Fighters. Committee Member Seeley suggested engaging the local VFW or Legion for wording of a dedication plaque or perhaps funding of. As far as the placement of the flagpole, the committee was satisfied with Mr. Statz's placement near the kiosk where it is visible from all ways and not blocking the view of the fountain or St. Genevieve. The committee preferred the lights to be flush mounted to the ground, but do not think this will work if the flagpole is lighted in the winter, the lights would be covered by snow. The committee was also satisfied with Mr. Statz's selection of the style of light, but would like them to be spot lights, opposed to flood lights and prefer two lights instead of three, thinking three lights will be too much. VII. ADJOURNMENT Motion was made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Haiden; to adjourn the June 2, 2010 Parks & Recreation Committee meeting at 9:00 p.m. All in favor.
