<br />IV. WATER IMPROVEMENTS <br /> <br />A. Definitions <br /> <br />1. Water Source and Treatment Facilities <br />The current source facilities utilized for water supply for <br />Centerville is a well approximately 300 feet deep. Treatment <br />includes chlorination and fluoridation. It is anticipated <br />additional source and treatment facilities will be required as the <br />water system expands. <br /> <br />2. Water Storage Facilities <br />The current water storage facility for Centerville consists of a <br />100,000 gallon elevated tank. It is anticipated additional <br />storage facilities will be required as the water system expands. <br /> <br />3. Water Trunk and Subtrunk Distribution Mains <br />A network of pipes and related appurtenances usually in the size <br />range of 8 inches to 12 inches. These pipes are designed to carry <br />large volumes of water and interconnect various point sources of <br />water supply and storage reservoirs. Appurtenances to these <br />facilities would include valves and fittings but not fire <br />hydrants. <br /> <br />4. Watermain Laterals <br />A network of water pipes and related appurtenances usually 6 <br />inches in size which are installed with about 8 feet of ground <br />cover to retard freezing and are designed to serve those buildings <br />abutting a given street or easement. Lateral mains are "looped" <br />wherever possible to balance pressures and prevent "dead ends" <br /> <br />11 <br />
