Magnuson. then advised the Councilof.the :death of Peter Mesiowv, son :of. Gem Lake .Prosecutor Doug MesIow. <br />Magnuson indicatedhe had forwarded condolences on behalf of the community and thathe and Erneott bad forwarded <br />a $100 memorial in Peter Meslow's name to the White Clear Lake Area Educational Foundation, <br />Magnuson reportedon forward movement on the County E/Highway 61 reconstruction project indicating a mid -July <br />start is probable. <br />Magnuson then introduced Barbara Kearns, Willow Lane School Principal. Ms. Kearns discussed with the Council <br />theongoing literacy project which Gem Lake gambling proceeds have fundedfor the last several years and Willow <br />L:ane's plans for the future. She also addressed the many challenges faced by changing demographics including language <br />barriers, cultural differences, etc. The "Golden Rule Project" spearheaded by Gem Lake resident Dawn Segermark was. <br />also discussed with Magnuson indicating a $100 donation from SEH has been received and forwarded to the school. <br />Magnuson then reported .that the balance in the Charitable Gambling Fund is $3,190.12 versus the $3,106 reported <br />on the agenda. Following discussion, motion by Watson and second by Schilling to distribute the funds as follows was <br />unanimously approved: <br />Friends of the Ramsey County Parks & Trails $ 200.00 <br />White Bear Lake Emergency Food Shelf $ 300.00 <br />Lake Area Transit. $ 500.00 <br />Willow Lane School $ 2,190.12 <br />Magnuson will issue checks within ten days. <br />Motion by Bosak and.. second by Watson to accept the Februaiy Treasurer's Report as prepared by Cobian and <br />indicatinga balance in the General Fund of$81,880.03, in the Sewer Fund of $116,014.12, in the Capital Projects Fund <br />of $319,898.:48,and in the: Gem Lake Bond Debt Service Fund of$26868.85 was unanimously approved. Motion by <br />Bosak and second by Watson. to approve Accounts Payablefor January total ing.$56,892.68.was unanimously approved. <br />Mr,.Grundhoffer. was recognized and expressed concern over he drainage along his property .onScheuneman Road. <br />Emeott and Magnuson indicated they would advise engineer Parotti of the .problem and request he address the problem <br />in the spring hen the contractor undertakes completion of the project. <br />The next meeting of the Gem Lake City Council is scheduled for 21 March. <br />There being no further business, motion by Bosak and second by Schilling to adjourn at 8:40 PM was unanimously <br />approved. <br />AlA1,£0RED: 10 March 2005 <br />APPRCJVED: 21 March 2005. <br />ATTEST: ATTEST: <br />Fiederic:C.
