RECFIVFU APR 0 0 "1994 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE OURISDITIONS WHICH CONTRACT WITH RAMSEY COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT FOR POLICE SERVICES March 22, 1994 7:30 a.m.. ****************************************************************** Joel Hanson, Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. The following members were present: - Jerry Bergeron, Commander, Ramsey County Sheriff's Department - Dick Dornbusch, Lieutenant, Ramsey County Sheriff's Department - Bill Ecklund, City of North Oaks - Joel Hanson, City of Little Canada - Dorothy Person, City of Arden Hills - Jan Reagan, White Bear Township - Terry Schwerm, City of Shoreview - Bill Short, White Bear Township - Gerry Urban, City of Vadnais Heights APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Minutes of February 17, 1994 were approved as presented. SMART (SPEED MONITORING AWARENESS RADAR TRAILER) POLICY VAN DEPLOYMENT The draft policy for use of the SMART Unit was reviewed by the committee. Commander Bergeron informed the committee that each community's share of the cost will be included in their March billing. Ecklund moved to adopt the draft policy, including provisions for a log sheet, for an (interim) 60 day period. Urban seconded. Ayes all. ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES Schwerin reported on his recent Meeting with Animal Control Serv- ices (Rick Ruzicka). Ruzicka indicated that he thinks that the communities do not need as touch patrol as they now pay for. He recommends that calls be handled in all cities as they are cur- rently handled in Arden Hills, whereby citizen complaint calls go directly to Ramsey County Dispatch, who then calls either the patrol deputy or Animal Control officer, as appropriate. Commander Bergeron suggested that the 7 communities all contact with the same animal control contractor. Schwerin stated that he would ask ACSI to prepare a complete proposal that includes all of the communities.
