RECFIVFU APR 0 0 "1994 <br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE OURISDITIONS <br />WHICH CONTRACT WITH RAMSEY COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT <br />FOR POLICE SERVICES <br />March 22, 1994 <br />7:30 a.m.. <br />****************************************************************** <br />Joel Hanson, Chair, called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. The <br />following members were present: <br />- Jerry Bergeron, Commander, Ramsey County Sheriff's Department <br />- Dick Dornbusch, Lieutenant, Ramsey County Sheriff's Department <br />- Bill Ecklund, City of North Oaks <br />- Joel Hanson, City of Little Canada <br />- Dorothy Person, City of Arden Hills <br />- Jan Reagan, White Bear Township <br />- Terry Schwerm, City of Shoreview <br />- Bill Short, White Bear Township <br />- Gerry Urban, City of Vadnais Heights <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The Minutes of February 17, 1994 were approved as presented. <br />SMART (SPEED MONITORING AWARENESS RADAR TRAILER) <br />POLICY <br />VAN DEPLOYMENT <br />The draft policy for use of the SMART Unit was reviewed by the <br />committee. Commander Bergeron informed the committee that each <br />community's share of the cost will be included in their March <br />billing. <br />Ecklund moved to adopt the draft policy, including provisions for <br />a log sheet, for an (interim) 60 day period. Urban seconded. <br />Ayes all. <br />ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES <br />Schwerin reported on his recent Meeting with Animal Control Serv- <br />ices (Rick Ruzicka). Ruzicka indicated that he thinks that the <br />communities do not need as touch patrol as they now pay for. He <br />recommends that calls be handled in all cities as they are cur- <br />rently handled in Arden Hills, whereby citizen complaint calls go <br />directly to Ramsey County Dispatch, who then calls either the <br />patrol deputy or Animal Control officer, as appropriate. <br />Commander Bergeron suggested that the 7 communities all contact <br />with the same animal control contractor. <br />Schwerin stated that he would ask ACSI to prepare a complete <br />proposal that includes all of the communities. <br />
