G) New City Hall matters: I) Chairs have been purchased. A used furniture company.will providea bid for outfitting the Sheriff's :office, the mayor's office, and the small conference room. 2) Mayor Emeott has received an. inquiry from a Gem Lake resident who is interested in doing custodial work for the new city hall. A discussion regardingensuringthat a cleanup fee is included in rental feefor the room occurred. Mayor Emeott will contact the resident for a written price. 3) Stillneed first aid kit and.AED,. The sheriff may possibly have a projector that can be installed in the conference room. 4) It is expected that signage for the building will exceed $10,000 so: a formal RFP will be put together Mayor Emeott is working with Bill Short of White Bear Township' toput together a short specification list: 5) Councilor Schilling is finding out what it would take to digitalize the city's.records. Hope only to Dave to move last year or so of paper files to the new city hall. Mayor Emeott stated that a few filecabinets will be purchased used for $10leach and repainted. H) Elected vs. Appointed Sheriff: Mayor Emeott statedthat the County is looking atthe possibility of moving. from an elected sheriff to one that is appointed. Currently almost all counties in the area haveelected sheriffs. Discussion by Councilors that an elected sheriff is preferred as they would then be more accountable to the people. A motion was made: by Schilling, Seconded by Artig-Swomley for Mayor Emeott to writea letter in favor of an. elected sheriff was unanimously approved by voice vote. I} City Hail Conference. Room rental. rate: Mayor Emeott asked the council for a recommendation on how much to rent the conference room out for. He indicated he has already received few inquiries. It was discussed that the minimum fee should offset the costs of cleanup of the room and :common areas. Mayor Emeott will request a written quote from the city resident interested in janitor duties. A differentprice.. for residents and non-residents was suggested. Further discussion is needed about after-hours rentals and how to lock up. This topic will be included in the next agenda under old business. J) City Hall Grand Opening Celebration: Mayor Emeott stated that the current datebeing discussed for the celebration is Friday,. March 14a'. White Bear. Township personnel were not available for. the Feb date. Mayor Emeott requested that Council Artig-Swomley contact Bill. Short at White Bear Township to coordinate activities.
