Minutes <br />Sheriff Contract. Group Meeting <br />December 18, 2008 <br />• Non -Uniformed deputies appreciated for their attendance at regular <br />Council Meetings (VH) <br />WEAKNESSES: <br />• Lack of deputy local interaction at community level (identity is at County <br />level) (AH) <br />• Capability of RCSD to staff growing number of community events (WBT) <br />• Perceptions of traffic enforcement needs improvement (VH) <br />SUGGESTIONS FOR 2009: <br />• Need to find way to set tone toward "partnership", so that we can identify <br />opportunities for efficiency, productivity and increased safety (AH) <br />• More aggressive involvement in multi -family housing (LC) <br />Continue efforts in high crime areas like 5 star manufactured home park, <br />High Crest apartments, patrolling through shopping center and park <br />parking lots (VH) <br />Continue getting speed boards out on regular basis and continue traffic <br />work (VH) <br />• Continue to explore & expand use of LSO's (WBT) <br />TRENDS AND/OR OBSERVATIONS FOR FUTURE PLANNING: <br />• Foreclosures — vacant buildings most likely to result in more criminal <br />activity — stress burglary and theft education more patrol of community <br />(LC, VH) <br />• State's budget deficit and levy limits likely to squeeze current expenditures <br />and may require modifications to service levels (LC) <br />• Continue efforts in traffic enforcement (LC, VH) <br />■ Continue crime prevention / enforcement efforts in multiple family <br />developments (LC, VH) <br />• Arden Hills' demographics need to be considered in terms of service...AH <br />population for 2009 — 2010 will be stable (AH) <br />OTHER COMMENTS <br />• RCSD continues to do an excellent job in our community — they are <br />responsive to our needs and accountable for the performance of the <br />deputies — it's appreciated (LC). <br />• Try to find ways to communicate on more of a "community level" (AH) <br />■ Efforts of Traffic Deputies, Ron Valento and. John Eastham are awesome, <br />and in general all of the Sheriff's Department personnel does a great job in <br />our communities (VH). <br />• WBT Town Board and Public Safety Commission feel that everything is <br />good relative to the service provided by the Sheriffs Department <br />3 <br />
