The use of: a. variety of architectural features and building Materials • is <br />encouraged :to give each:.biulding or group of buildings a .distinct character. When accent colors are <br />proposed, the number of colors should be limited to:prevent a gaudy appearance. <br />9.10.7. Materials. All buildings shall be constructed with materials.. that arc attractive in.appearance, <br />durable with a permanent finish, and of high quality. New .mixed -use or commercial buildings <br />erected within. the Gateway District shall. be•of masonry. construction,: an equivalent, or better. Synthetic stucco may be used as. a <br />secondary-.rnaterial on upper:floors only. <br />G) Accent. materials may bewood,. metal or fiber cement when used ..in trim, fascia or soffit <br />if appropriately integrated into the overall building design and not situated. in areas which <br />will: ue subject to physical or environmental damage. <br />D) Prohibited Materials. No buildings .shall be. constructed of sheet aluminum, asbestos, <br />iron, steel, corrugated metal, plastic or fiberglass siding. The predominant roof shape in the Neighborhood Center subzone:is flat with ar- <br />•ticulated parapets; the predominant roof shape in the Neighborhood General s.ubzone is peaked. <br />Roof shapes m the Neighborhood Mixed -Use •subzonc •should achieve a gradual transition between <br />the two: roof types. <br />9,10:10 Outdoor Storage. •Thexe shall be no outdoor storage of either materials or products except <br />through the issuance of a conditional use permit. <br />9:10.11 Screening.. Property boundaries abutting'propexty that is not included within the Gateway <br />District. shalt have significant dense vegetative screening. <br />9.10..12• Signage.
