Planning Commission Meeting <br />Page Two. <br />Commissioner Marier raised an issue of placement of the sign that is currently <br />there. It needs to be redone and brought up to code due to the current sign <br />leaning. All parties agreed to correct the issues that were addressed. Upon <br />motion by Commissioner Marier and seconded by Commissioner Herzog, the <br />Planning Commission recommends presenting to the City Council, pending the <br />requirements are properly met so the City. Council can officially act on it: Ayes — <br />3, Nays — 0. <br />Sign Ordinance: Chairman Rafferty is scheduled to meet with Bill Short from <br />White Bear Township the week of September 7th. Will need to get the sign fee <br />and ordinance established. The City Council will discuss this issue at the <br />September 14, 2009 workshop. <br />OPEN FORUM <br />Potential Development Projects: Chairman Rafferty has had a few phone <br />calls, but nothing coming forward yet. Discussion was about there is some <br />funding for senior housing and senior living, but have to do a lot of phone calling <br />and investigating. <br />Green City Concept: Commissioner Herzog was at the Minnesota State Fair <br />and got some information from a company demonstrating solar wind power. <br />Discussion was made on having a presentation to the Planning Commission/City <br />Council discussing different ways to go green. Chairman Rafferty suggested <br />"Green Education Night" to make residents aware! Also, put information in the <br />Gem Lake newsletter. Decision was made to add this subject to the October <br />agenda. <br />ADJOURN <br />The September 1, 2009 regular meeting of the Planning Commission was <br />adjourned at 7:55 pm. Commissioner Herzog motioned to adjourn, seconded by <br />Chairman Rafferty.
