Gem Lake City Council Meeting Page. Two trash. Mayor Uzpen suggested a story on the upcoming winter plowing and sanding and to remind residents to keep their cars off the road when it snows. Councilmember Artig-Swomley would welcome any human -interest stories. Surface Water Project Plan: Councilmember Watson updated the City Council about getting the new permit request for 2009, which will come in December or January 2010, and then Gem Lake will have until June 2010 to complete the next permit. The City Council needs an updated map showing the water out-falls/in- falls. A suggestion was made to have an article in the Newsletter asking the citizens to notify the city hall if they have a cul-de-sac on their property or in their street. Water Testing: Councilmember Lindner contacted Ramsey County regarding water testing. Gem Lake will pay for the testing of the water and get the kits to give to the residents. The City Council will make a decision on a date to start this project after Councilmember Lindner obtains more information. Flag Pole: Councilmember Lindner said the construction phase in Washington County will be removing their flagpoles and then Gem Lake will be able to receive the flagpoles. Mayor Uzpen asked if we could prep the ground and get everything ready for installation this year before the ground freezes. Councilmember Lindner will investigate. NEW BUSINESS New Recycle Contract — Resolution 2009-19: Waste Management's contract is up next month and Mayor Uzpen sent the new proposal to the Council members to view: The proposal is to have the recycling in a single -sort cart versus a tub.. Right now, it is for residents only and smaller businesses. A spokesperson from Waste Management was at the meeting to discuss the new recycling process. Everyone would receive a new cart with a 60-gallon container. After 90 days, the resident can opt for a smaller container or a larger container. Waste. Management will send out a welcome letter to the residents. A suggestion was made to collect from the residents that go south for the winter to notify the City Hall because we will receive a credit when they are gone. An article will be in the next Newsletter discussing this subject. Upon motion by Councilmember Artig- Swomley and seconded by Councilmember Lindner. Resolution 2009-19 passes. Ayes — 5, Nays — 0.. Scheuneman Road Project: Justin Gese from SEH stated the project was finished. The shoulder was fixed and seeded. The drainage issue was fixed.
