Gem Lake City Council Meeting <br />Page. Two <br />trash. Mayor Uzpen suggested a story on the upcoming winter plowing and <br />sanding and to remind residents to keep their cars off the road when it snows. <br />Councilmember Artig-Swomley would welcome any human -interest stories. <br />Surface Water Project Plan: Councilmember Watson updated the City Council <br />about getting the new permit request for 2009, which will come in December or <br />January 2010, and then Gem Lake will have until June 2010 to complete the next <br />permit. The City Council needs an updated map showing the water out-falls/in- <br />falls. A suggestion was made to have an article in the Newsletter asking the <br />citizens to notify the city hall if they have a cul-de-sac on their property or in their <br />street. <br />Water Testing: Councilmember Lindner contacted Ramsey County regarding <br />water testing. Gem Lake will pay for the testing of the water and get the kits to <br />give to the residents. The City Council will make a decision on a date to start this <br />project after Councilmember Lindner obtains more information. <br />Flag Pole: Councilmember Lindner said the construction phase in Washington <br />County will be removing their flagpoles and then Gem Lake will be able to <br />receive the flagpoles. Mayor Uzpen asked if we could prep the ground and get <br />everything ready for installation this year before the ground freezes. <br />Councilmember Lindner will investigate. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />New Recycle Contract — Resolution 2009-19: Waste Management's contract is <br />up next month and Mayor Uzpen sent the new proposal to the Council members <br />to view: The proposal is to have the recycling in a single -sort cart versus a tub.. <br />Right now, it is for residents only and smaller businesses. A spokesperson from <br />Waste Management was at the meeting to discuss the new recycling process. <br />Everyone would receive a new cart with a 60-gallon container. After 90 days, the <br />resident can opt for a smaller container or a larger container. Waste. <br />Management will send out a welcome letter to the residents. A suggestion was <br />made to collect from the residents that go south for the winter to notify the City <br />Hall because we will receive a credit when they are gone. An article will be in the <br />next Newsletter discussing this subject. Upon motion by Councilmember Artig- <br />Swomley and seconded by Councilmember Lindner. Resolution 2009-19 <br />passes. Ayes — 5, Nays — 0.. <br />Scheuneman Road Project: Justin Gese from SEH stated the project was <br />finished. The shoulder was fixed and seeded. The drainage issue was fixed. <br />Discussion went on with the businesses on Scheuneman Road about the levy <br />and the assessment to include a number of years, The businesses were <br />Look for us on the World Wide.
