Gem Lake City Council Meeting <br />Page Two <br />doing. Mayor Uzpen suggested doing a category on the prelirninary budget <br />stories, example:. Police, 27% of the fixed versus variable budgets, Also <br />mentioned was a story on the first nine months of Mayor Uzpen's term. It was <br />suggested doing a story on SEH, showing what they do as a company and what <br />they do for the City of Gem Lake. For the City News Page, it was suggested. <br />doing a story about the culvert on Haven Lane. Mayor Uzpen stated that there is <br />going to be two new signs. One being a Dead End sign on Haven Lane and a <br />No Outlet on Haven Lane. <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />Surface Water: Councilman VVatson gave a presentation on the Surface Water <br />in Gem Lake. Councilman Watson went on to explain the function of the SWPP <br />Program, a Federal process working with the surrounding cities. He went on to <br />explain the run-off issues and challenges that face the residents and how to find <br />ways to be more water friendly. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Scheuneman Road Project: Justin Gesse from SEH presented to the City <br />Council two options for repairing Scheuneman Road: Per the handouts received <br />by the Council, he went through the two options and recommended option two as <br />it would have a longer life expectancy. The price of these repairs will remain <br />within the budget. Councilman Watson brought up a question about the weight <br />restriction on the new road. Justin will get that information to the City Council. <br />Comprehensive Plan: Dan from SEH updated the City Council on the <br />comprehensive plan and addressed some of the issues that came up when he <br />met with The Metropolitan Council two weeks ago. Some of the issues. <br />addressed were forecast of population, affordable housing, waste water, and <br />historic presentation, and land use, sewer at Hoffman Corners, the local surface <br />water and transportation. Dan will have the final comprehensive plan completed <br />by Friday, August 21, 2009. <br />Resolution Number 2009-09: Mayor Uzpen presented to the Council the <br />resolution using gambling money collected by the City of Gem Lake. The <br />balance is $3,400 after subtracting for the Night to Unite expenses. It will go to <br />the following: Willow Lane Elementary School will receive $2,500.O0. Lake Area <br />Transit will receive $500.00 and the White Bear Lake Food Shelf will receive <br />$500.00.
