Gem Lake City Council Meeting <br />Page 2 a.f 4 <br />The March issue will include the goals of Gem Lake for 2011. The council will discuss <br />the goals for 2011 at the March 14th workshop. Also, mention the Public Hearing for <br />Vadnais. Heights senior homes development. <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />None. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />White Bear Lake Fire Services Contract: Mayor Uzpen sent out information to the <br />council giving Jessie Hart, Gem Lake Finance Director permission to sign on behalf of <br />the City of Gem Lake. There were no questions regarding this request from the City <br />Council and upon motion by Councilmember Artig-Swomley and seconded by <br />Councilmember Lindner motion passes. Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />Claims for February: The bills for February were discussed and authorized to pay. <br />Upon motion by Councilmember Artig-Swomley and seconded by Councilmember <br />Bosak, motion passes. Ayes — 4, Nays — 0. <br />Monthly Financial Reports: The. City Council received and reviewed the handout. <br />Mayor Uzpen stated that Gem Lake is in good shape, but is questioning the Planning <br />Commission's zoning and administration line items. Mayor Uzpen will question Jessie <br />Hart regarding this. issue. <br />OPEN ITEMS FROM THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Councilmember Lindner mentioned that they are 9oing9to do a fire sprinkler testing at <br />the Gem Lake's office on Saturday, February 19t . He will notify the fire department <br />regarding the testing. <br />Councilmember Bosak asked about the ice hanging on the edge of the building. Mayor <br />Uzpen explained that a consultant was brought in to look at it and the consultant said <br />that it was an air pipe that was put together when the building was built, but it was not <br />long enough to put outside. He will get a repairperson to fix the problem. Mike Johnson <br />from White Bear Township is in charge of this project and will oversee the project. <br />Councilmember Artig-Swomley mentioned the Gem Storm Water Retro Bid Assessment <br />she received is well written stating that the commercial district in Gem Lake is providing <br />more run-off pollution than the residential district. Councilmember Lindner asked if SEH <br />needs to be involved. Councilmember Artig-Swomley will summarize some of the main <br />points to include in the newsletter. <br />Councilmember Lindner mentioned that VWALMO would have a "Managing Your Fish <br />Population in Your Shallow Lakes" seminar in 2011.
