Gem Lake City Council Meeting <br />Page2of6. <br />The Planning Commission has approved the Overlay Ordinance. With corrections <br />requested by the council. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Newsletter: Councilmember Artig-Swomley suggested the July issue have an article <br />on the National Night Out and an article on the audit report, letting the residents know <br />how the City is spending their money. In addition, an article on the traffic report <br />received June 20th showing the stops on June 18th regarding the DUIs. Councilmember <br />Rasmussen suggested putting in the newsletter an article on the. residents attending the <br />Workshops each month. Mayor Uzpen suggested writing about incentives to <br />developers coming to the City of Gem Lake to review and report on the Gateway District <br />and how to develop or redevelop property in the city. Councilmember Lindner reported <br />that the MS4 Report was filed on time for 2011. In addition, there should be a news <br />item letting the residents know about the Public Hearing at the Planning Commission in <br />July regarding variances. <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />None. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Audit Report: The company Larson Allen has done the City of Gem Lake's audit report <br />for the past four years. Tom Koop and Michelle Hoffman provided the 2010 report and. <br />presented the information to the City Council, highlighting certain important sections of <br />the audit. Mr. Koop stated that there are some uncorrected mis-statements regarding <br />the investment income, the numbers being different from what is carried through the <br />City's books. Small adjustments were made stating utility income for 2010 instead of <br />2011. Ms, Hoffman went through the report. Ms. Hoffman called attention to pages 31- <br />32, a paragraph regarding internal control over financial reporting. Page 33 was <br />regarding the Minnesota Legal Compliance and did not find any issues regarding the <br />main categories. Page 3 is the business view of the City's capital assets arid page 4 is <br />the net assets comparing 2009 to 2010. The City of Gem Lake is financially sound. <br />Page 12 is the Profit & Loss Statement, which are related to the sewer line and repair <br />maintenance. <br />The City of Gem Lake has a solid cash reserve. The auditresults were very clean and <br />a positive result. Good financial results. <br />There are copies available at the Gem Lake City hall for residents to view or also will be <br />on the city's website. <br />Claims for June: The bills for June were discussed and authorized to pay. <br />Councilmember Rasmussen asked why a service call was needed for the building. <br />Look for on the World Wide Web at gemlakemn.org <br />
