CITY OF GEM LAKE, MINNESOTA <br />SCHEDULE OF FINDINGS AND RESPONSES (CONTINUED) <br />YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2016 <br />OTHER ITEM FOR CONSIDERATION — MINNESOTA.LEGAL COMPLIANCE (CONTINUED) <br />2016-005: Out of State Travel Policy <br />Criteria: Minnesota Statute §471.661, requires the governing body of each statutory or home rule <br />charter city., county, :school district, regional agency, or other political subdivision, except a town, must <br />have .on record a policy that controls travel outside the state of Minnesota for the applicable elected <br />officials of the relevant unit of government. <br />Condition: The City does not have a travel policy. <br />Effect: The City is not in compliance with the Minnesota ,Statute requiring a. travel policy, <br />Cause: The City has not developed a travel policy. <br />Recommendation: We recommend the Citydevelop a travel policy. <br />Management. Response: <br />City management is aware of this. requirement. and will work toward developing a travel policy. <br />(30) <br />
