Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Georgie Schulte will be present at our next meeting to provide us
with some updated quotes for worker's compensation and auto
coverage. Based on some initial comments she made to me, it.
appears that savings of approximately $40,000 could be achieved
through worker's compensation and approximately $15,000 through
automobile coverage. She also noted that the automobile quote
included physical damage coverage as compared to our present
policy which does not. These quotes are from Minnesota Counties
Insurance Trust (MCIT).
The main issue we need to consider is the joint and severable.
liability clauses raised by entering into a joint powers
agreement with MCIT. I have attached copies of the trust
agreement for your review. Given the fact that other counties
are members of this trust, I would assume this agreement does not
pose any unreasonable exposure for us as contracting entities.
However, this is something we need to be aware of and should
review to determine our own comfort level.
Georgie will discuss this matter in greater detail at Thursday's
meeting.
JRH;kpv
Enclosure.
