A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, <br />seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to accept the feasibility report, resolution and move <br />forward on the project. Voice vote taken, all yes. 4 – 0. Passes. <br /> <br />William Short – City Clerk <br />Mr. Short has served as the city clerk for Gem Lake since 2007. He provided an overview of the <br />statutory duties of the city clerk. In the last couple of years his involvement has decreased, in 2017, <br />12.5 hours were spent on city clerk duties for Gem Lake. He explained that this small amount of <br />involvement is not consistent with the statutory role. Mr. Short offered the council three suggestions in <br />regard to the city clerk position. The Council decided to continue discussion at the February, 2018, City <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br />2018-01 Appointment for 2018 <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to approve <br />the 2018 appointments and leave the city clerk position blank to be discussed at the February City <br />Council meeting. Motion passed. 2018 Appointments approved. <br /> <br />Liquor License Approval for 2018 <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to approve <br />the liquor license for Black Sea Restaurant, motion approved. A motion was made by Councilmember <br />Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to approve the liquor, on sale, Sunday, charitable <br />gambling and tobacco for the Country Lounge. Motion passed. A motion was made by Councilmember <br />Linder, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to approve the liquor license for Gem Lake Golf <br />Course, motion passed. <br /> <br />Claims for the month of January, 2018 <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to approve <br />the claims for January, 2018. Motion passed. Claims approved. <br /> <br />Monthly Financial Reports <br />Approved. <br /> <br />January 23, Information meeting <br />There will be an informational meeting on January 23, 2018, 6:30 p.m., 4200 Otter Lake Road, on the <br />Villas at Gem Lake. Meeting will be in the same format as a workshop. <br /> <br />Discussion to Consolidate with White Bear Lake <br />No interest at this time, council decided to do a survey later this summer. A motion was made by <br />Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to drop the matter for now, <br />motion passes. <br /> <br />Presentations from the Public <br />Tom Bofling read a letter from Carol Schacht regarding consolidation. <br /> <br />
