City of Gem Lake City Council Meeting minutes, January 17, 2017 Page 1 <br /> <br />City of Gem Lake <br /> City Council Meeting – January 17, 2017 <br />Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Uzpen called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Councilmembers Artig-Swomley, Bosak, Kuny and <br />Lindner were present. Others in attendance: Bill Short, City Clerk, Justin Gese, City Engineer, Ramsey <br />County Sheriff Jack Serier and student Dan Petersen. <br /> <br />Swearing in New Elected Officials <br />City Clerk Bill Short swore in reelected Mayor Uzpen and Councilmembers Kuny and Lindner. <br /> <br />January 17, 2017, Agenda <br />The agenda was amended to add Ramsey County Sheriff Jack Serier to the first item of business. A <br />motion was made by Councilmember Bosak, seconded by Councilmember Lindner to approve the <br />amended agenda for January 17, 2017, motion passed. Agenda approved. <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Councilmember Artig-Swomley made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Bosak to approve the <br />minutes for December 20, 2016, motion passed. Minutes approved. <br /> <br />Committee Reports <br />No committee reports, however Councilmember Lindner reported on the progress of the ordinances. <br />The group will be meeting again Monday, January 23, and at the February and March, 2016, Planning <br />Commission meetings. <br /> <br />Old Business <br />Newsletter ideas – Goals for 2017, accomplishments of 2016, newly elected officials, fee schedule, <br />liquor licenses, new Sheriff Update, comp plan/ordinances update, wedding at the Daniels Estate. <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br />None <br /> <br />New Business <br /> <br />Update from new Sheriff Jack Serier <br />Sheriff Serier updated the council on progress within the Sheriff’s Department in 2016. Highlights <br />included – Lexus/Nexus crime mapping tool, RMS system, PRIME (Positive Responsible Inmates <br />Managed Effectively) a management tool for inmates within the jail system, Fright Farm over $100,000 <br />raised during the 2016 event, also encouraged citizens to utilize Drop boxes for leftover or unused <br />prescription drugs. Boxes are located at 325 Grove, St. Paul, 1411 Paul Kirkwold Drive, Arden Hills and <br />North St. Paul City Hall, 2400 Margaret, North St. Paul. <br /> <br />Resolution 2017-01 City Appointments <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Bosak to approve <br />Resolution 2017-01 appointing individuals and firms to perform the functions necessary for supporting
