Appendix D <br />OFF -ROAD ESTIMATED TRAIL COST <br />Most off -road trails will be a bituminous surface. Bituminous construction cost for an 8 foot trail is $.70 per <br />sq. foot = $5.60per lineal foot. This includes 6 inch gravel base and a 2 inch thickbituminous overlay. For <br />,concrete off -road trailsthe recent Lahore Road construction serves as an example. Construction cost of this. <br />8 foot wide sidewalk was $1.50 per sq. foot = $12 per lineal foot. This includes 4 inch gravel base and 4 inch <br />thick concrete. This doesnot include grading, .excavation, turf establishment, easements, hydrant <br />adjustment, thickened concrete through driveways, and curb ramps. Engineeringcosts for sidewalks <br />generally run high because of the need to fit into adjacent properties and roadways. It can be seen that the <br />easiestand least expensive trailway to construct is black topping the existing shoulder along theprimary <br />streets.
