L --
E :- 6. Lack of Public or Semi -Public Open Soace and Recreational Areas. While at
this stage of development there is little need for publicly or semi -publicly
held open and recreational space, there will be a need for a. ciose-in
r "neighborhood" oriented facility as the community mare fully develops.
7. Maintenance of Residential Quality in Existing Commercially Designated
Areas. The Plan supported by existing zoning calls for expansion of
commercial land development to include all.developable land east of U.S. 61;
some of which -is currently being used for residential purposes. The area
possesses poor qualities for residential development including heavy traffic
volumes, rail traffic and no open space. As a result, particular attention
should be placed on maintaining these residential land uses in a reasonably
good state until such time as commercial land -uses replace the residential
structures.
23
