Accommodating through traffic on new streets will be discouraged. The
basic arterial and collector road system of Gem Lake has been .estab-
lished. Therefore, future streets should be designed to channel local
,j traffic onto County Road E, LaBore Road., and Goose Lake Road.
4. All. future streets should. be desianed to discouraae additional surface
" water run-off into "Gem Lake" and its attendant wetlands. Recognizing
` that Gem Lake and its attendant wetlands do not have a natural. outlet,
additional storm.run-off created by the impervious surfaces of streets.
,f into this basin should be discouraged. (:see also Chapter 5).
5, Access to parcels between T.H. 61 Schuneman Road and County Road E
S-
.should be from Schuneman Road..
6:. While the City of Gem Lake has only Timited, need for public transit
service due to planned low density development. it will cooperate with
adjacent communities to secure improved bus service as needed a ono
its minor arterial street system. Bus service in other areas of the
City wi be discouraged consistent with its planned low density and
desi red rustic environment.
7. Gem Lake officially recovnizes that any levelooment affectina naviaa-
1 e air space within the community is subject to Minnesota Devartment
of Transportation, Aeronautics division, Revu ations.. The community
will therefore routinely consider such regulations. as part of the
development review process.
MIEI!
