GEM LAKE VILLAGE 3rd Meeting of Council Nov. 17th 1959 at Hoffmans Corners Hall 1. Mayor Hoffman called the meeting to order at 8:15 p.m. 2. Clerk called roll - all present - Hoffman, Hansen, Arcand Gray, Birkeland and Morgan 3. Clerk read minutes of previous meeting - same were accepted as read - all ayes. 4. Mayor Hoffman asked for nominations for a member of the council to act in his place in event of his absence. Allen Hansen was so nominated by Arcand and seconded by Gray - all ayes. 5. No petitions were submitted. 6.Reports of Officers :- A. Mayor Hoffman reported that the contract proposed by the White Beer Lake Fire Dept. included: - Stand by charge 4150,00 per month Dispatching charge $25.00 per month Fire calls - �150. per hour. After considerable discussion and participation from the floor of these seemingly high chagres - Arcand moved and Hansen seconded a motion that the Mayor appoint members of the council to contact and get proposals from Little Canada,Maplewood and Wilernie. - all ayes. Mayor Hoffman appointed Hansento contact Little Canada, Arcand to contact Maplewood, and Gray to contact Wile rnie. B. Mayor Hoffman reported that the Ramsy County Sherifs office had submitted a proposed contract for police protection for Gem Lake and five other villages. According to the letter 24 hour service would cost the village of Gear Lake W96.55 per' year. If the six villages go intothe deal at least one more man and fully equipped car will be put into service and we we would be patrolled probably three times daily in addition to any emergency service required. It? -was stated from the floor that a car can get here from anypoint in the county at a meximum of seven minutes. Moved by Hansen and seconded by Gray that the Clerk notify the Sherifs office that said proposed contract is acceptable to Gem Lake Village. All ayes. C. Clerk reported that the County Engineer will snow plow and sand Tessier Road - from Goose Lake Road to the N.P.R.R. tracks - a distance of about 500.feet - at actual cost. The maximim cost per hour is - driver $2,25 aast 1.90 and truck 9.00 for extotal of 413.15 per hour. 500 feet should take a short time. Moved by Arcand and seconded by Hansen that the clerk make application to the county engineer for this service. all ayes.
