THE ONE HUND EI) AND TENTH MEETING - VILLAGE OF GEM LAKE <br />COUNCIL - OCTOBER 15th, 1968 - HOFFM4NS CORNERS HALL. <br />Z. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:07 PM. <br />2. THE CLERK CALLED THE ROLL - <br />PRESENT - Hoffman, Bigelow, Knutson and Morgan. Plus a <br />large gathering of residents - maybe 25 - 30. <br />ABSENT - Arcand and Ward. <br />3. 21E CLERK IC -AD THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING HELD <br />SEPTEMBER XXxX4XXXXX 17th, 1968 - Mayor Hoffman asked the <br />Clerk to make a correction to the effect that the gas line <br />for NSP runs north along the east side of scheuneman road. <br />Bigelow moved and Hoffman seconded that the minutes be <br />approved as corrected. All ayes. <br />4. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR - <br />5. REPORTS Or C0I�94ITTLES - <br />a. Chairman Bemis reported that he had not had time to get <br />a meeting of his committee because as usual Chyysler <br />wanted an answer quickly after submitting the request <br />at the last moment. Bemis recommended that the council <br />approved the request ( from the LeRoy Sign Co) as follow: <br />See letter from Leroy attached hereto and made a part of <br />these minutes - <br />Approve item#1 with 2 exceptions. <br />Approve item #2 as is. <br />Approve otem-#3 with hight limited to 15 feet <br />Approve item #4 with one exception. <br />Approve item #5 with hight limite;l_ to 15±k feet. <br />These exceptions match those granted to Tousley Ford and <br />appear in order - moved by Bigelow and seconded b# Morgm <br />that the Planning Committee recommendation be approved. <br />All ayes. <br />6. UNFINISHED BUM ESS - <br />a. Mayor Hoffman pointed out that we had no new information <br />on the sewer situation, but were in the process of gath- <br />ering together all the information that is available. <br />The clerk pointed out that with our form of government in <br />the Village the Council was all powerful and could make <br />decisions without consulting the residents. However the <br />rules do call for hearings on any major decisions and km <br />hearings will of cD urse be held. The clerk stated that he <br />would try to put all the pertinent facts on paper and <br />see that each roter got a copy BEFORE the hearings. R. <br />Hansen mentioned a referendum - though hearings are call - <br />for - do not know just what can be done about a referen- <br />dum or if one is called for. <br />So many stories have been passed around about the sewer <br />that the situation is thoroughly tangled up and must now <br />wait for clarification, <br />
