EIGHTY - SECOND MEETING - VILLAGE OF GEM LkKE COUNCIL <br />MAY 17th, 1966 - HOFFMANS CONERS HALI, <br />1. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:15 PM <br />2. PRESENT - Hoffman, 1xxX Arcand, Morgan and John Ward. <br />A' -)so present Bemis, Wild and Tessier of Planning Cam. <br />and Dick Hansen and Mr. Philip of pottery. <br />ABSENT - Allen Hansen, and John Gray. <br />�. THE CLERK READ THE PIINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING HELD APRIL 19th, <br />1966 - Arcand moved and Hoffman seconded that the same be approved <br />as read - all ayes. <br />j. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR. - <br />a. Mr. Philip says that his sign on the west side of highway #61 <br />near Scheuneman road - does him a lot of good and. cost him a <br />lot of money. He realizes that it is on residential property <br />and does not meet sign specifications but at the moment he has <br />no other place to put it. Arcand moved and Morgan seconded that <br />the present sign be allowed to continue in place for one year <br />from this date - all ayes - Philip was urg3d to find another <br />location for the sign. <br />5. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES - <br />a. Mr. Bemis, chairman referred to a letter from At2A=Jffx Richard <br />Hansen to Bemis dated March _qth 1966, in ih ich Hansen requested <br />planning committee action with referrenee to two pieces of <br />property - the first at 2225 Goose Lake Road and the second <br />on the Test side of Scheuneman Road adjacent to highway #61. <br />In the first case Hansen wishes to dividd a 1.3 acre piece <br />into two .9 pieces. In the second case Hansen wishes to have <br />the Scheuneman Road piece rezoned as commercial. Hansens letter <br />is attached to these minutest Bemis reported that on A,_ril <br />27th 1966 he had written to Mr. Francis D. Butler (who had acted <br />as attorney for the Village during the period of planning) and <br />asked Butler regarding certain technicalities in connection <br />with Hansen requests. Mr. Bemis read from Butler's reply of <br />May 17th 1966, Copies of the Hansen, Bemis and Butler letters <br />are made a part of these minutes and attached hereto. <br />In connection with item #1, property at 1225 Goose lake Road, <br />Bemis reported that the planning committee recoomends to,the <br />Village Council that this request be denied. Hoffman moved and <br />t.�rcand seconded that the recommendation of the planning committee <br />be accepted and the request on item #1 be denied. All ayes. <br />Inconnection with item #2, the property west of Scheuneman <br />Road and adjacent to highway #61, Bemis reported that the plann- <br />3 ing committee recommends that this request for rezoning be denied. <br />S Hoffman moved and Arcand seconded that the recommendation of <br />the planning committee be accepted and that the reuqest on item <br />#2 for rezoning to commercial be denied, all ayes. <br />In both the above situations there was consierable discussion, <br />in which Bemis pointed out some of the reasons ih ich were taken <br />into account at the time when these village plans were deafted <br />by Midwest planning and Research, and discussed in open meetings <br />before approval by the council. <br />
