GEM LAKE VILLAGE * SEVENTEENTH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />AT HOFFMANS CORNERS HALL — JANUARY 31st 1961 <br />1. The ME-yor called the meeting to order at 8:10 PM, <br />2. Present were — Mayor Hoffman,Trustees Hansen,Arcand and Gray, <br />Treasurer Dave Hoffman,and Clerk John Morgan. <br />Absent — none <br />3, The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting, held Dec. 20th <br />1960 — Moved by Hansen and Secnoded by Gray that same be and are <br />approved as read. All Ayes. <br />4. Presentations from the Floor. <br />A. Requests were made from the floor that if possible the village <br />secure the services of a new Electrical Inspector and a new Building <br />Inspector.The Council will give these requests serious consideration. <br />B. The attention of the Council was called to the fact that a house <br />belonging to Don Clark at 4135 Scheuneman Road has been abandonned <br />since the middle of December.The neighbors believe the house to be <br />on an illegal sized lot — has no drainage — tno close to adjacent <br />houses and should not have been approved by any building inspector <br />when it was moved there some ten years ago. <br />The Mayor appointed himself Qnd Clarence -lild to look into this <br />matter and report at the next council meeting. <br />C. The Interstate Lumber Co., requested permission to place some model <br />buildings ( 2 garages — one lake cottage and some fencing) on property <br />leased from Allen Hansen et al at the Northwest Corner of the inter— <br />section of Highway /#61 and E. County Rd. E. — that is — between the <br />highway and the Dairy. The buildings are to be of a temporary nature, <br />For display only, placed on conrete blocks, properly finished and with <br />both buildings and property well maintained. <br />Moved by Gray and Seconed by Arcand,"That the Interstate Lumber Co., <br />be granted permission to erect such temporay buildings as they see <br />fit for display purposes, on the Hansen property at the Northwest Corner <br />\ of the intersection of Highway #61 and E.County Road E., for the period <br />of one year from this date and with the understanding that both property <br />and buildings will be adequtelt maintained"., All Ayes. <br />5. Reports of Committees. <br />A. Planning Committee — Members of the Planning Committee present <br />were Allen Hanssn,Chairman, Judson Bemis, Clarence Wild and Ray <br />Tessier. <br />Allen Hansen resigned from the committee and Judson Bemis was appointed <br />Chairman by the Council. <br />Report — The Clerk read in detail the proposal submitted by the Midwest <br />Planning and Research Inc, of 525 Metroploitan Bldg., Minneapolis 41, <br />Federal 9-8953 — Howard Dahlgren, Principal Planner.This four page <br />proposal titled " A Plannino Proqram for Gem Lake Village" covers the <br />following matters: — <br />A. Base Map <br />B. Land Use Inventory <br />C.Analysis of Existing Development <br />D. Projected Guide Plan <br />E. Zoning Ordinance and Map <br />F. Subdivision Regulations <br />G. Four meetings with the village <br />H. Costs — $30000.00 payable on a monthly progress basis, over an <br />estimated 12 months. <br />
