page #2 — Jan 31st 1961
Bemis spoke in favor of this project and suqgested that before
making any agreement, it be ascertained who handles the "meetings"
(he believes these are going to be very important) and if extra
neetings might be required, what same might cost. It became evident in
the course of discussion that this proposal at a cost of $31000.00
is a most economic project for Our small village. For instance, if the
village had to employ surveyors to make maps, and lawyers to write
ordinances — building codes and subdivision regulations — on a sort of
"do —it —ourselves basis" — such cost might substantially exceed the cost
of this proposal and the council and village would still be without any
well conceived overall plan on which to base decisions for the future.
The Council realized that the Uillage Budget cannot absorb this cost
of $3,000.00 but it felt that the budget could absorb one third or $1,000.
over the proposed period, and that the two thirds or #2,000.00 would
have to be secured from interested individuals on a tax deductible basis,
as has been done at Sunfish Lake.
The Mayor asked the Clerk to work with the Chairman cf the Planning
Committee to find out if these funds can be secured and report back at
the next Council Meeting Feb 21st 1961.
6. Unfinished Business from the Last Meeting.
None.
7. New Business.
A. The Minnesota Department of Health has aammstip requested that
the village appoint a Health Officer with two other individuals to
constitute a village Board of Health.
Mayor Hoffman volunteered to find a health Officer, and appointed
himself (Mayor Hoffman) and Dave Hoffman to serve as the two members.
8.
