GEM LAKE VILLAGE EIGHTEONTH MEETING AT HOFFMANS CORNERS HALL — FEBRUAhY 21st 1961 1. The Mayor called the meeting to order at 8:30 PM. 2. Present were:- Mayor Hoffman, Trustee Richard Arcand and Clerk John Morgan, and Treas. Dave Hoffman. Absent were - Trustees John Gray and Allen Hansen 3.The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting held, Jan 31st 1961 - Moved by ArxiidAyand Seconded by Hoffman that same be and are approved as read. !�. Presentations from the floor A. Clarence Wild mentioned that there had been some strong complaints about the new 30 mile an hour traffic signs installed in December. It was the councilts opinion that the public had had plenty of time to get used to these new signs and no action was recommended. B. Clarence Wild reported that the sheriffs felt that stop signs might well be placed at the exits to the Creamery, as these exits now lead onto a heavily travelled street. The clerk was requested to consult with the County Safety Engineer,Bill Chenoweth about this. C, Hoffman moved and Arcand seconded that Ronald Goulette of the Gem Lake Inn, be granted an off and on malt liquor license with with permission to sell "set-ups" until July first 1961. All Ayes. 5. Reports of Committees: - As Bemis, chairman of the planning committee could not be present, John Morgan presented some of the points w ich had been discussed with Bemis regarding the contract submitted by Midwest Planning and Research. Morgan also reported that he would submit the contract to Frank Butler for a final legal check. Moved by Arcand and seconded by Hoffman that the Mayor and the Clerk be authorized to sign said contract for the Village, subject only to legal review by Mr. Butler. All Ayes. 6. Unfinished Business: - A. Hof'f'man an_. Wild reported that they talked to i)on Clark about the house at 4135 Scheuneman Road and that he m uld proceed to get the house moved off the lot. B. Mayor Hoffman reported that he had not yet been successful in finding a satisfactory health officer. )3 C. Moved by Hoffman and seconded by Arcand that Robert A. Cartier of 1914 East County Rd F, W.B.L.#10, master elctrician Lic.;#3358 be appointed electric inspector for the village to take office on April 1st 1961. Al, Ayes. The clerk was instructed to notify the State Board of Electricity and the former inspector Stan Sayre. 7. New Business:- none 8. Reports of Village officers: - A. The Treasurer reported receipts for January Of $48.00 and dis- bursements of �04.58 leaving a balance of 2,796.01 Jan. 31st. B. Bills authorized were; City Treasurer -Fire 482 - 1'p75.00 Sam Hane- Dump 83 - 10.00 Farnhams- file cabinet 84 - 41.20 White Bear Press -Pub. 85 - 32.00 9.
