GEM LAKE VILLAGE EIGHTEONTH MEETING <br />AT HOFFMANS CORNERS HALL — FEBRUAhY 21st 1961 <br />1. The Mayor called the meeting to order at 8:30 PM. <br />2. Present were:- Mayor Hoffman, Trustee Richard Arcand and <br />Clerk John Morgan, and Treas. Dave Hoffman. <br />Absent were - Trustees John Gray and Allen Hansen <br />3.The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting held, Jan 31st <br />1961 - Moved by ArxiidAyand Seconded by Hoffman that same be and are <br />approved as read. <br />!�. Presentations from the floor A. Clarence Wild mentioned that there had been some strong complaints <br />about the new 30 mile an hour traffic signs installed in December. <br />It was the councilts opinion that the public had had plenty of time <br />to get used to these new signs and no action was recommended. <br />B. Clarence Wild reported that the sheriffs felt that stop signs <br />might well be placed at the exits to the Creamery, as these exits <br />now lead onto a heavily travelled street. The clerk was requested <br />to consult with the County Safety Engineer,Bill Chenoweth about <br />this. <br />C, Hoffman moved and Arcand seconded that Ronald Goulette of the <br />Gem Lake Inn, be granted an off and on malt liquor license with <br />with permission to sell "set-ups" until July first 1961. All Ayes. <br />5. Reports of Committees: - <br />As Bemis, chairman of the planning committee could not be present, <br />John Morgan presented some of the points w ich had been discussed <br />with Bemis regarding the contract submitted by Midwest Planning <br />and Research. Morgan also reported that he would submit the contract <br />to Frank Butler for a final legal check. <br />Moved by Arcand and seconded by Hoffman that the Mayor and the Clerk <br />be authorized to sign said contract for the Village, subject only <br />to legal review by Mr. Butler. All Ayes. <br />6. Unfinished Business: - <br />A. Hof'f'man an_. Wild reported that they talked to i)on Clark about <br />the house at 4135 Scheuneman Road and that he m uld proceed to <br />get the house moved off the lot. <br />B. Mayor Hoffman reported that he had not yet been successful in <br />finding a satisfactory health officer. <br />)3 C. Moved by Hoffman and seconded by Arcand that Robert A. Cartier <br />of 1914 East County Rd F, W.B.L.#10, master elctrician Lic.;#3358 <br />be appointed electric inspector for the village to take office <br />on April 1st 1961. Al, Ayes. <br />The clerk was instructed to notify the State Board of Electricity <br />and the former inspector Stan Sayre. <br />7. New Business:- none <br />8. Reports of Village officers: - <br />A. The Treasurer reported receipts for January Of $48.00 and dis- <br />bursements of �04.58 leaving a balance of 2,796.01 Jan. 31st. <br />B. Bills authorized were; City Treasurer -Fire 482 - 1'p75.00 <br />Sam Hane- Dump 83 - 10.00 <br />Farnhams- file cabinet 84 - 41.20 <br />White Bear Press -Pub. 85 - 32.00 <br />9.
