Gem Lake City Council Meeting
• Project on the Swell on Highway 61
August Issue:
• MS4 Report
• Ad for Minnesota Pollution Control
PUBLIC HEARING
Mayor Uzpen explained to the High School students in the audience what the public
hearing was about and how the City Council will take action to approve it, amend it, or
turn it down.
Public Hearing on Amending Ordinance 64E: Mayor Uzpen explained this section
was on the sanitation sewer and water Ordinance within the city. Mayor Uzpen asked
the City Council if they wanted to discuss this subject before the public hearing.
Public Hearing Opened at 7:16 p.m.
Paul Emeott noticed on the Table 1, Section 4.10 the wordage should be school or
church as there is no church in the City of Gem Lake at present. When this Ordinance
was written, there was a church. In addition, if amending this Ordinance, the Ordinance
should be 64F. The letter moves up one when the City changes, amends, or revises an
Ordinance.
Public Hearing Closed at 7:20 p.m.
Mayor Uzpen opened up discussion for the City Council. Councilmember Artig-
Swomley agreed to change the letter to 64F and take out the wording of church.
Upon motion by Councilmember Artig-Swomley and seconded by Councilmember
Bosak, motion was made and seconded to approve the Ordinance 64 lettering change
to make it 64F. Motion passes. Ayes — 5, Nays — 0.
NEW BUSINESS
Resolution for Ramsey County for Flood Participation: Year 2011, the City Council
created an Ordinance that was a Flood Ordinance for participating in National Flood
Insurance. This was done so the residents of Gem Lake could purchase flood
insurance for their property. Gem Lake was supplied from Ramsey County all the
documents that were needed. Ramsey County did not give all of the documents for this
resolution. Upon motion by Councilmember Artig-Swomley and seconded by
Councilmember Lindner, Resolution to apply to participate in the National Flood
Insurance Program for the City of Gem Lake passes.
