Gem Lake City Council Meeting <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />Audit Services for the Year Ending 12-31-2011. The City Treasurer is asking for approval to <br />engage in the yearly Audit and sign the contract with LarsonAllen. Upon motion by Council <br />member Artig-Swomley and seconded by Council Member Lindner the motion passes. Ayes — <br />5, Nays — 0. <br />Discussion for Using Heritage Hall - Mayor Uzpen brought up the fact that the city is <br />receiving more requests to use Heritage Hall for activities from White Bear Township residents. <br />With much discussion and because of security, the City Council agreed that the general <br />practice of renting Heritage Hall would be stopped. Heritage Hall can be used by White Bear <br />Township Officials and if they want an association to be able to use the building, a city official <br />will have to open the building and secure the building upon conclusion of the meeting or <br />activity. <br />Discussion on the Sheriff's Contract - As a personal goal for Mayor Uzpen he is reviewing <br />the cities service contracts with the intent to make sure that what services the city is paying for <br />that the city is actually receiving those services. Mayor Uzpen reported to the council that the <br />Sheriff's department is doing a good job for community activities but falls short on patrolling the <br />city and crime investigation and follow-up. It was recommended that a meeting be held with <br />the Sheriff to discuss our concerns. A meeting will be scheduled and results of the meeting <br />will be discussed at the next City Council Meeting. <br />Claims for January - A motion was introduced by Council Member Lindner and Seconded by <br />Council Member Rasmussen to approve the claims for January. The motion passes. Ayes — <br />5, Nays — 0. <br />Monthly Financial Reports: The City Council received and reviewed the report. There were <br />no questions from the City Council. <br />Fire Contract - The City Treasurer is requesting approval of the White Bear Lake Fire <br />Protection Contract for the year 2012. A motion to approve the contract was made by Council <br />Member Rasmussen and seconded by Council Member Bosak. The motion passes. Ayes — <br />5, Nays — 0. <br />PRESENTATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC - None <br />OPEN ITEMS FROM THE CITY COUNCIL — Council Member Rasmussen discussed his <br />feelings about dictating to the Tangwall's as to what plants to plant at the shoreline. After <br />further discussion, it was decided that Mayor Uzpen would contact VWLAMO and try to obtain <br />up to six water plants that would be good to plant at the Gem Lake shoreline and that upon <br />obtaining them provide that list to Mike Johnson at the Township to communicate to the <br />Look for us on the World Wide Web at gemlakemn.org <br />
