Gem Lake Planning Commission Minutes
The discussion centered on the run-off from the businesses across Highway 61.
Once the results of the study are presented to the City of Gem Lake, then the
City Council will schedule a meeting to meet with the business owners. Part of
the issue of Gem Lake is it is a shallow lake and doesn't have enough water to
move it around.
Resident Bolfing is concerned that the City of Gem Lake will use tax dollars to
clean up the lake. Chairperson Kuny stated she believes the City hopes that
property owners will help share in the cost of the clean up. Grants
and the availability of Federal funding were discussed.
Commissioner Wippich stated that the City of Gem Lake is trying to correct the
water run-off issue and cleaning up the lake. Part of this is getting everything
ready for when there is Federal funding; the City of Gem Lake has the paperwork
in order to apply for that funding. Mr. Bolfing stated there are many grants
available for this issue.
Chairperson will clarify with the City Council on what the guidelines are for the
City of Gem Lake as Stephanie from VLAWMO stated guidelines are different for
each city.
Upon motion by Commissioner Wippich and seconded by Commissioner Pratt,
motion passes to forward Ordinance No. 125 to the City Council.
