MEMORANDUM <br />Date: September 17, 2007 <br />To: City Council <br />From: Jessie Hart <br />Re: Status of Proposals for Audit Services <br />The City of Gem Lake issued requests for proposals to provide auditing services to ten (10) <br />auditing firms which perform a number of local municipal audits in Minnesota and included <br />the City's current auditing firm. <br />The submission deadline for proposals was Wednesday, September 5, 2007. As of the <br />deadline the City had received only two sealed proposals as follows: <br />Smith, Schafer & Associates, LTD. <br />Maplewood, MN <br />(City's current auditor) <br />Larson Allen LLP <br />Minneapolis, MN <br />(Township's current auditor) <br />The City also received letters from two of the prospective bidders indicating they would not be <br />providing a proposal at this time. The firms and their reasons (if stated) are as follows: <br />Deloitte & Touche LLP <br />Minneapolis, MN <br />(... due to changes in the marketplace over the past several months do not feel they have <br />the resources to provide the level of services deserved by the City of Gem Lake) <br />Eide Bailly <br />Minneapolis, MN <br />(... would be well qualified to provide the services but did not wish to submit an audit <br />proposal at this time.) <br />The remaining six (6) firms listed below provided no response to the request for proposals: <br />HLB Tautges Redpath, Ltd. <br />White Bear Lake, MN <br />Kern DeWenter Vierre Ltd. <br />St. Cloud, MN <br />Abdo Eick & Meyers LLP <br />Edina, MN <br />MMKR & Company <br />Minneapolis, MN <br />KPMG <br />Minneapolis, MN <br />Virchow Krause & Co. <br />Minneapolis, MN <br />The next step for the City Council would be to review the two proposals submitted and <br />schedule interviews, as necessary, in October with an award for auditing services being <br />made in October or November. <br />
