Sheriff Contract Group Minutes. <br />June 16, 1994 <br />COUNTY. ATTORNEY CANDIDATE <br />Susan Gaertner, Director of the Human Services Division of the <br />Ramsey County Attorney's Office, introduced herself to the <br />members of the Group and summarized her professional experience <br />and her reasons for seeking the County Attorney position. She <br />noted that she served as the Assistant County Attorney for 10 <br />years, and that she is the only candidate with County Attorney <br />experience. <br />BADGES IN BUSINESSES <br />Dornbusch explained, that the grant money for this project has. <br />been depleted, and therefore not available for the contract <br />communities. We will be notified when/if future funding becomes <br />available. <br />POLICE HIRING SUPPLEMENT - GRANT. STATUS <br />Bergeron reported that Our grant application has not been <br />accepted for funding. In igeneral, successful applicants <br />demonstrated severe heeds. We have been added to the list to <br />receive future grant announcements (see attached <br />correspondence). <br />PARTNERSHIP MINNESOTA <br />The Governor's Office has issued each of the contract communities <br />a Certificate of Commendation (see attached correspondence). <br />BUDGET DISCUSSION <br />Bergeron explained funds received ($1,339.55) at the June 6th. <br />Auction, The Group directed him to dedicate these funds to <br />support the. Explorers, and if there are funds left over, also to <br />the DARE Program. <br />Two new deputies will.be phased in to staff an eight hour squad <br />fdr the Rice Street corridor. In February, 1995,'a new deputy <br />(scheduled on a 5 and 2 shift, with Sunday & Monday ❑ff), would. <br />be hired so that their training will be completed by the summer. <br />This would result in adding 11/12 of one deputy to the 1995. <br />contract estimate. This deputy will be divided up per the <br />agreement reached by the four communities involved as follows: <br />Little Canada +1/3; Shoreview +1/6; Vadnais Heights +1/3; White <br />Bear Township +1/6. <br />Hanson proposed that the traffic car become the power shift car, <br />and asked the. Group to consider the two proposals in terms of <br />priority. <br />Short suggested, that as an alternative, Little Canada be <br />3 <br />
