PUBLIC UTILITY
<br />Persons, corporations, or governments supplying gas, electric, transportation, water, sewer, or land line telephone services to the general
<br />public. For the purposes of this Ordinance, commercial broadcast services and commercial wireless telecommunications services $ball
<br />not be considered public utility uses and are defined separately.
<br />RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT (RESIDENTIAL)
<br />Play apparatus such as swing sets and slides, sand boxes, poles for net games, unoccupied boats and trailers, picnic tables, lawn chairs,
<br />barbecue stands, and similar equipment.
<br />SHORELAND
<br />Real property immediately adjacent to and abutting but not contained within the mean high water mark of any Shoreline.
<br />SHORELAND IMPACT PLAN
<br />A plan detailing current and future use of Shorelands and the pot en t i a 1 impact of said uses; an assessment of current and future conditions
<br />and impact on those conditions for: vegetation and trees, soil and water, human and animal habitat, natural aesthetics and environmental
<br />quality.
<br />SHORELAND ZONE 1
<br />All real property located within and waterward ofany Shoreline in the City of Gem Lake as detemt i ned by a federal, state, regional or local
<br />regulatory agency with the authority to make such determinations.
<br />SHORELAND ZONE 2
<br />All real property located within and landward fifty (50') feet of any Shoreline in the City of Gem Lake as determined by a federal, state,
<br />regional or local regulatory agency with the authority to make such determinations.
<br />SHORELAND ZONE 3
<br />All real property located within and landward fifty (50') feet to one hundred fifty (150� feet of any Shoreline in the City of Gem Lake
<br />as determined by a federal, state, regional or local regulatory agency with the authority to make such determinations.
<br />SHORELINE
<br />The mean high water mark of the body of water known as Gem Lake and any lake, pond, or flowage in the City of Gem Lake as
<br />determined by a federal, state, regional or local regulatory agency with the authority to make such determinations, along with all wetlands
<br />attendant to each body of water.
<br />SIGN -ADVERTISING
<br />A sign which directs attention to a business, commodity, service or entertainment not exclusively related to the premises where such sign
<br />is located or to which it is affixed.
<br />SIGN -BUSINESS
<br />An identification sign which directs attention to a business, profession or corporation or to the commodity, service or entertainment sold
<br />or offered on the premises where such sign is located or to which it is attached.
<br />SIGN -CONSTRUCTION
<br />A temporary free standing sign erected on a site denoting proposed or future construction on this particular site. This sign may indicate:
<br />1) The particulars of the proposed construction, 2) the company, firm or individual for whom it is being constructed, 3) the architect,
<br />engineer and contractor, and 4) rental, sales or lease information.
<br />SIGN -CROSS AREA OF
<br />Shall be the entire area within a single continuous perimeter enclosing the extreme limits of such sign, and in no case, passing through
<br />or between any adjacent elements of same. However, such perimeter shall not include any structural elements lying outside of such sign
<br />and not forming an integral part of the display.
<br />SIGN -ELECTRIC
<br />Any sign containing electrical wiring, but not including signs illuminated by an exterior unattached light source.
<br />SIGN-ENTRANCE/EXIT
<br />A privately owned traffic directional sign erected on private property by the owner of such property for the purpose of guiding vehicles
<br />and pedestrians.
<br />SIGN -FLASHING
<br />Any illuminated sign on which the artificial light is not maintained stationary or constant in intensity and color during which time such
<br />sign is in use.
<br />SIGN -GENERAL
<br />Any object which indicates a name, identification, description, display or illustration which is affixed to or represented directly or
<br />indirectly upon a building, structure, or piece of land and which directs attention to an object, product, place, activity person, institution,
<br />organization or business. However, a "sign" for application of this Ordinance shall not include any display of official court or public
<br />office notices or highway directional signs.
<br />SIGN -GROUND MOUNTED
<br />A sign supported by one or more uprights, poles or braces in or up from the ground.
<br />SIGN -IDENTIFICATION
<br />In a Residential Zoning District, a nameplate sign identifying a resident (Name, address and profession or occupation), school, church
<br />or other non -business use.
<br />b) Ina Business Zoning district, a nameplate or sign identifying the business, industry or occupant of the lot ( Name, address, business(s),
<br />industry or lot occupant).
<br />SIGN -ILLUMINATED
<br />Any sign which has characters, letters, figures, designs, or outline illuminated by electric lights or luminous tubes as a part of the sign
<br />proper.
<br />SIGN -MOBILE
<br />A free standing sign on wheels, trailers or framework that is capable of being transported from place to place and is not permanently
<br />attached to the ground or any other structure.
<br />SIGN -NAMEPLATE
<br />A sign indicating the name and address of a building or the name of an occupant therein.
<br />SIGN -REAL ESTATE
<br />A sign offering property (land and/or buildings) for sale, lease or rent.
<br />SIGN -REVOLVING
<br />A sign which has moving structural but does not include flashing signs that blink on and off. It does include signs which produce moving
<br />effects through use of illumination. This definition shall include searchlights.
