August 9, 2011 1 4 2 Ju ly 12, 2011 M inutes 3 4 Human Rights Commission 5 Meeting Minutes 6 DRAFT – July 12, 2011 - DRAFT 7 8 Commissioners Present: Jill Brisbois, Gary Grefenberg, Thelma McKenzie, Kaying Thao , 9 Chair David Singleton 10 Youth Commissioners Seth Josephson 11 12 Call to Order 13 14 Chair David Singleton c al led the meeting to order at 6:3 0 p.m. 15 16 The Clerk called the roll. 17 18 Approve Minutes of June 14 , 2011 19 20 Commissioner Thelma McKenzie said that she arrived a few minutes late to the June meeting. 21 22 Commissioner Gary Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Jill Brisb ois seconded motion to 23 approve minutes with the amendment on page 6, line 242, adding “Commissioner Grefenberg 24 distributed to commission members a June 12, 2011 email from him to Operations Committee 25 members Singleton and Brisbois entitled Internal Affairs committee report missing some last 26 minute changes,” and o n line 235 change the word “deeper” to “more.” Motion prevailed 27 unanimously. 28 29 Committee Reports 30 31 Program Planners Committee - Update on Civic Engagement Project 32 33 Commissioner Grefenberg said the ta sk force has changed its name to Neighborhood and 34 Community Engagement Task Force . The task force rec ommended to the Program Planners 35 Committee that the task force be co -chaired by Commissioners Grefenberg and Kaying Thao. They 36 will share duties . Commissio ner Thao is attending the neighborhood work group and Commissioner 37 Grefenberg is attending the assessment of civic engagement practices work group. 38 39 Commissioner Grefenberg said t he task force meets two times a month and the working committees 40 meet more of ten than that. 41 42 Program Planners Committee moved that the task force be co -chaired by Commissioners 43 Grefenberg and Thao.
