signing it, that's not absolutely saying I want it.

MR. VENNE: Is your vote here tonight then to approve
and go ahead with this?

MR. ANDRE: That's correct.

ACTING MAYOR JOHNSON: Approval or denial.

MR. VENNE: Is there any way you can put that off to
another meeting? What I'm asking - I haven't had the time to
talk to the neighbors to get them here.

ACTING MAYOR JOHNSON: The neighbors are here -
supposedly. Let's defer that question for just a minute
and have Mr. Honchell respond to your first question dealing
with the issue of the condition of the street and how to
deal with your tuck-under garage.

MR. HONCHELL: The condition of the street is somewhat
subjective - simply by looking at it, driving it, and talking
to some of the maintenance people in some cases. Quite
frankly, that's not the reason we're here tonight for the
hearing. We're here because of the petition. We were
instructed to do a feasibility study, so we did.

As far as your tuck-under garage, if you have some
specific plans and elevations, we'd be happy to sit down and
talk with you to see how that would or would not impact your
plans. If we know what you're proposing to do, we may be
able to make a design that would aid you instead of being a
detriment. One of the other points I might add that I
didn't say - it's a general City policy - and that has to
do with senior citizens. You related the fact that several
people are older. The City has a senior citizen deferment
policy, that those citizens that find the paying of this to
be a handicap and a hardship, that you can apply to the City
and if you meet the qualifications, you can have your assess-
ments all deferred so you wouldn't have to pay any of the
assessments as long as you lived on the property. I don't
know if that would apply to anyone here tonight, but that is
available to the people.

ACTING MAYOR JOHNSON: ts there anyone else on this
project?

MR. HAROLD JACOBSEN, 2488 Chatsworth Street: I've
heard all these arguments, what's positive - can I mention
a few of the negatives? Taxes are continually going up.
By the way, I think there are a lot of changes in opinion
of those that wanted it and don't want it now too. Taxes
will go up with any improvement, besides the general taxes
that are going up. Number two, Chatsworth Street is in

-3-
