Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 12, 2011 <br />Commissioners Present: Jill Brisbois, Gary Grefenberg, Thelma McKenzie, Kaying Thao, <br />Chair David Singleton <br />Youth Commissioners Seth Josephson <br />Call to Order <br />Chair David Singleton called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br />The Clerk called the roll. <br />Approve Minutes of June 14, 2011 <br />Commissioner Thelma McKenzie said that she arrived a few minutes late to the June meeting. <br />Commissioner Gary Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Jill Brisbois seconded motion to <br />approve minutes with the amendment on page 6, line 242, adding "Commissioner Grefenberg <br />distributed to commission members a June 12, 2011 email from him to Operations Committee <br />members Singleton and Brisbois entitled Internal Affairs committee report missing some last <br />minute changes," and on line 235 change the word "deeper" to "more." Motion prevailed <br />unanimously. <br />Committee Reports <br />Program Planners Committee Update on Civic Engagement Project <br />Commissioner Grefenberg said the task force has changed its name to Neighborhood and <br />Community Engagement Task Force. The Program Planners Committee recommended to the task <br />force that the task force be co- chaired by Commissioners Grefenberg and Kaying Thao. They will <br />share duties. Commissioner Thao is attending the neighborhood work group and Commissioner <br />Grefenberg is attending the assessment of civic engagement practices work group. <br />Commissioner Grefenberg said the task force meets two times a month and the working committees <br />meet more often than that. <br />Program Planners Committee moved that the task force be co- chaired by Commissioners <br />Grefenberg and Thao. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />Project 515 <br />Commissioner Grefenberg said plans were in the works for a Project 515 presentation at the Skating <br />Center in early October. He said Commissioner Brisbois was taking the lead on organizing the <br />event. Commissioner Brisbois said she contacted the presenter Ann Kaner -Roth and she wants <br />
