Roseville Human Rights Commission
July 12, 2011 Minutes
Commissioner Grefenberg the Commission is working on continuing, building and expanding
current race and diversity dialogues. He would like to see 2010 census data to help the
commissioners get a better understanding of diversity within Roseville. He said the task force is
working on this issue as well. They have developed a website to share information, but it is
currently not open to the public, and the task force has not decided yet when they want to make it
available for anyone.
Commissioner Grefenberg said the revised strategic plan would drop the idea of pursuing other
funding sources and expanding the HRCs role to include mediation.
Joint meeting with City Council
Chair Singleton said he would do a short introduction at the Council meeting then commissioners
could add comments. Chair Singleton said he wanted this to be a dialogue with the Council.
Commissioner Grefenberg said he invited the civic engagement task force to the meeting and would
like to introduce them if time allowed.
Commissioner Grefenberg said he wanted to suggest to the Council that they look for people who
could devote the time and energy to the commission, beyond the two hour monthly meetings.
Chair Singleton said he would ask the youth commissioners to be prepared to speak for a few
minutes about their role on the commission.
Commissioner Grefenberg clarified that the strategic plan was for the rest of 2011 and they would
update in 2012.
Commissioner Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Brisbois seconded motion to approve the
strategic plan, as amended. Motion prevailed unanimously.
Public Comment
No one appeared to speak.
Future Agenda Items
Commissioner Grefenberg said he would like at a future meeting a report on the census data as well
as a discussion on the format of the community dialogue.
Announcements
Commissioner Grefenberg said the Neighborhood and Community Engagement Task Force was
meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and the community was invited to attend.
Adjournment
