Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,August 22,2011
Page 5
(Former Consent Item 7.e)
At the request of Mayor Roe, City Manager Malinen provided a brief summary of
this item, as detailed in the Request for Council Action (RCA) dated August 22,
2011.
Councilmember McGehee advised that her intent in requesting removal of this
item from the Consent Agenda was for a discussion that would alert the public of
this valuable opportunity to donate to this worthy cause; and to hopefully encour-
age other civic-minded individuals or groups to make similar contributions.
At the request of Councilmember McGehee, City Manager Malinen advised that
any persons or groups interested in making donations could contact City Hall, the
Administration Department or specifically through any other City Department.
City Manager Malinen noted that the City was always eager to accept donations
to such worthy causes and to provide recognition accordingly through its week's
news releases or other media options available.
Councilmember McGehee sought additional information about this specific
recreation area that the Roseville Police Department had taken an interest in.
Roseville Police Chief Rick Mathwig advised that, while the Police Department
had originally "passed the hat" to purchase volleyball nets and other sports
equipment for this recreation area at Woodridge and Marion, along with coordina-
tion of equipment with the Parks and Recreation Department, it had subsequently
proven insufficient. Chief Mathwig advised that the venture was now a pub-
lic/private relationship, through cooperation with the apartment management and
ownership to provide green space inside the grounds of the apartment complex.
Chief Mathwig noted that it remained a work in progress, but was a heavily-used
recreation option for youth in that area.
McGehee moved, Johnson seconded, acceptance of donated funds by the Rose-
ville Fire Angels Auxiliary to the Police Department.
Roll Call
Ayes: McGehee; Pust; Johnson; Willmus; and Roe.
Nays: None.
f. Approve Request by the Lorraine B. Smith Living Trust for a Recombina-
tion Minor Subdivision at 544 Ryan Avenue (PF11-023) (Former Consent
Item 7.f)
At the request of Mayor Roe, City Manager Malinen provided a brief summary of
this item, as detailed in the Request for Council Action (RCA) dated August 22,
2011.
Public Comment
Scott Barraclough, listing agent/representative of the Trust at 544 Ryan
