Many of these run -off route are 100+ years old and need updating.
- Reduce the amount of Carp in the lake. I can speak for many folks, Carp is a garbage fish and wouldn't be missed.
Please acknowledge these concerns and the concerns of other Lake Owasso property owners. A no boating or no -wake policy is NOT the answer.
Thanks for your help and understanding,
80
66
1 am writing to urge you to reconsider the recommendation of the GLWMO to implement a No Wake Zone on Lake Owasso.
August 27, 2011
Joe Zoborowski
My family and I are recreational boaters and consider Lake Owasso one of the best water skiing lakes in the north metro and would consider it a great loss to the community if
skiing were not allowed on this lake.
I have read through the GLWMO draft proposal as well as the surrounding landowners opposing viewpoints. The most compelling environmental objection to the no wake
zone, in addition to the above - stated recreational value, appears to be the Barr Engineering report implicating run -off from Central Park as the source of high phosphorous
loadings in Lake Owasso.
I would urge you to focus your activities, and our tax dollars, on fixes that will result in a win /win for the community leg clean up Central Park) and not pursue win /lose
scenarios where science can only speculate on the possible cause of the problem.
81
67
The proposed changes relating to restricting boat use are disappointing and unnecessary. I did find the report informative and not surprisingly loaded with data from the
August 29, 2011
John Schroeder
engineering groups paid to generate reports which they do very well. Lake Owasso has a 150 feet from shore restriction currently put in place by the DNR in 1984,that doesn't
leave much usable lake. The boating as it relates the stirring up the lakebed has no supporting data from what I could see in the very dry report, Horsepower restrictions have
also been suggested, with absolutely no data to support benefits. My family and countless friends have enjoyed this lake all our lives for every purpose. My wife and I had
intended to spend our future here and have beautiful new house plans drawn up for a winter construction. The report indicated 53% of the phosphorus was coming from the
adjoining watershed, why are we treating the Effect and NOT the Cause.
82
68
1 am a homeowner on lake Owasso, and was quite alarmed regarding a proposal to start enforcing a 'no wake' zone on parts of the lake ( GLWMO 2011 Watershed
August 30, 2011
Daren J. Wickum
Management Plan, Lake Owasso Implementation 1.9.f). Apparently this is one idea to improve the health of Lake Owasso, among others. As I'm sure you have already read
many other letters in opposition to this plan, 1, too am vehemently opposed to such an ordinance.
I just built a new home on Lake Owasso in 2007, and the main reason was that it is such a nice recreational lake. Imposing boating restrictions on this lake would be
devastating to all homeowners on this lake, as well as the hundreds of people who come to this lake from elsewhere. You have already read many reasons from others why
this proposal is concerning to us. (i.e. property values, increased congestion of boats on parts of the lake, boater safety, etc.)
I am writing to go on the record as being opposed to any boating restrictions /no wake zones on Lake Owasso as a measure to improve water quality. I believe further efforts
and studies should be focused on water runoff, filtering bodies of water, etc. As there have been many studies supporting the success of such measures.
I speak on behalf of the lake homeowners on Owasso when I say that we know just how important this natural resource is to us and our community. We want this lake
protected as well so that we, along with many others, may enjoy fun and safe days on the water. Placing boating restrictions on this lake is certainly not a good way to protect
it.
83
69
1 have learned that there is a proposed no wake zone or no boating zone on Lake Owasso in the proposed new 10 year plan. The plan indicates that this will be in "shallow
August 30, 2011
Mark Christopherson
areas" and that if positive the zones may become permanent. Do you have a map to show these zones or a definition of shallow area (i.e. less than 3 feet, 6 feet, etc. ?)
84
70
As a home owner on this lake I am very concerned about the impact to my property values, enjoyment of the lake, if boating on the lake is restricted. I use the lake
August 30, 2011
Mark Christopherson
extensively for swimming, fishing, and water skiing. I would be very much opposed to any reduction in usable boating area. I am very much in favor of good water quality and
would like to see other options pursued over experimenting with no boating zones.
85
71
Please send me any additional information you have on this proposed no boating / no wake zone. I am also wondering if there are specific residents on Lake Owasso who are
August 30, 2011
Mark Christopherson
Grass Lake Watershed Management Organization — 2011 Watershed Management Plan Response to Comments: 60 -dav review period
9/19/2011 Page 10
