I'm Brent Martin and I
live at 2569 piske I originally circulated a petition over the
phone in response to neighbors' interest in determining the
cost and feasibility of curb and gutter. We had a meeting. At
that time 1 was told by the city engineer a rough idea of what
the costs were. The general costs, we were told, were
somewhere in the neighborhood of eight hundred to fourteen,
fifteen hundred dollars. We were given a per-foot amount which
we were told was for the curb and gutter. The storm sewer was
not included at that time. We were not aware -- we were made
aware that it was possible that it would be put in, -but that
was all discussed very thoroughly at our hearing, the date of
which I cannot remember, but it was a couple months ago.
The street situation is not good at our end of
the street. We live on the south end. The street has a number
of large holes between us and the other (inaudible) which have
been patched. We have quite a drainage problem on our end and
I can fully appreciate that this may be a matter of elevation
as to whether you are for or against this. But I guess I would
stand strongly in favor of curb and gutter and I think it would
be a good improvement for our street. We have quite a problem
with people driving up on our lawn. We live right about at the
curb where it makes the turn. We've picked up the front end of
cars out of our lawn. Granted, you aren't going to change the

DOUGHERTY & SIGSTAD
